Chinese medicine is a coherent and independent system of thought and practice developed over the last two thousand years. It is the result of a continuous process of observing our bodies in health and sickness and an enquiry into our relationship with nature at large. It is dynamic and changing field of study with each generation of practitioners bringing new insights based on our ever evolving understanding of who and what we are.
Acupuncture has been used for centuries as an effective treatment for a wide range of ailments: acute and chronic body aches, sporting injuries as well as general issues relating to stress, sleep and emotional well being.
Acupuncture needles are carefully inserted to relax muscles, increase circulation and help body function at optimal level. Moxibustion is sometimes performed where heat is gently applied to further relax the body and mind. Massage and cupping are also often used to work with targeted area in order to relax muscles and sinews.
The number of treatments you may need will vary according to your presenting problem as well as your overall health. In Chinese medicine we look at each person as an individual so the treatment will be specific to you, not the illness.
